The Sewer Authority Mid-Coastside (SAM), whose members are the City of Half Moon Bay, Granada Sanitary District, and Montara Water & Sanitary District, is searching for a dynamic leader with excellent interpersonal skills to serve as General Manager. SAM is governed by a six-member Board of Directors who are appointed by their respective agencies. The General Manager will oversee a total of 13 employees in SAM Operations/NDWSCP, Collections and Administration departments and an operating budget for the FY 2009-2010 is approximately $5 million. The Board of Directors seeks a talented manager who is a proven leader and skilled negotiator. He/She should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work cooperatively with a Board composed of representatives from several jurisdictions will be highly valued. Ideal candidates will have five years of experience in wastewater treatment operations, including three years of supervisory experience in control of an activated sludge plant having primary treatment, solids digestion, and mechanical dewatering, as well as three years of experience in control of a sewer line maintenance crew having responsibility for maintenance of a collection system and pumping stations. Experience with a water recycling plant is desirable. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in science, civil or environmental engineering, or a related field is desirable. Possession of a Grade IV or V Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board (or the equivalent issued by another state) is also desirable. The salary is DOQ and there is also an attractive benefits package.
