Deputy Director of Housing
The City of San Jose has been a leader in the affordable housing field since 1987, creating more than 19,100 new housing opportunities for San Jose residents. The City is currently seeking an effective manager and leader who is focused on serving the needs of the Department and City to serve as the Deputy Housing Director. This position requires an individual who is articulate, persuasive, and passionate about the Departmentís mission and who will support the current culture of positive staff investment in projects and people. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to build and maintain strong working relationships with staff, the City Council, community members, and other partners. A Bachelorís degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public or business administration, housing, urban planning, or a related field is required; a Masterís degree is preferred. Candidates must possess six years of increasingly responsible professional experience in administration of public or private housing programs of major scope and complexity, including three years at a policy making management level. The salary range for the incoming Deputy Housing Director is $116,893-$182,084.
